This morning before I was going to sleep I called a friend.
She is my sister in Christ Ginny.
She told me that her sister Marilyn
my other sister in Christ
was admitted to the Kennedy Hospital with pneumonia.
So I went straight to the hospital to see her and pray with her.
Marilyn is always busy doing for everyone and puts herself last.
Marilyn has looked bad before but I have never seen her so under the weather.
She need a a paper pad under her we use to call them chux.
They do not have them at Kennedy Hospital.
I was very surprised.
The nursing care she was receiving was very good.
Nurses flowing in and out tending to her every need.
They were very attentive to her comfort.
I went to the Underwood Hospital tonight to see Bob,
they put in a feeding tube and he was starting to run a fever.
I question the timing of this placment of the feeding tube.
They plan to move him to Lourdes Hospital in two days.
He had the IV in place.
They could have done the feeding tube there .
He had a cold before he had a stroke.
I would have been more concerned about his cough that isn't productive.
The risk to this patient contracting of pneumonia.
Than seemingly putting him at more risk to infection.
As yet no one has shaved him, he looked exhausted.
Nursing care at Underwood has taken a bigger dive than ever.
Routine things in nursing are not so routine now.
Back in the day, you would not have to ask anyone to shave you if you couldn't do it yourself.
It would be automatic to have a glycerin swab at your bedside for mouth care.
I actually had to hunt some down for him and they gave me a sponge on a stick.
Health care is so expensive and you do not get the hygienic care
or supplies that seem normal in nursing care.
Bob is coughing deep and no presentation of mucus.
I told his wife to ask more questions tomorrow when the doctor comes.
Is the cough due to saliva or is there congestion in his lungs?
If it is in his lung why is he not getting aspirated.
From a outsider's eyes science has taken a leap forward and
nursing care has slipped a couple steps.
This is not a slam on the nurses or nuring staff.
I realize they have to follow procedures.
They can only use what they have.
Bob's nurses were also attentive as Marilyn's were.
I tend to wonder is this the hospital cutting back to save a buck.
Is this Insurance's big hand in reaching in and giving less?

I love that one of her nurses...her male nurse...is a Christian...such a sweet guy to take care of her!
